The DANK SOUTHWEST Conference is an ode to the dank culture in Southern California. Dank is a slang term describing something as “excellent,” especially marijuana. Dank is a word used to describe something that is considered ‘sexy’ or good. In the 1990s, dank especially came to characterize high-quality marijuana, the usage perhaps influenced by the fact that marijuana can be pungent and moist. At the same time, Southern California introduced us to post NWA Hip Hop: Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg & The Chronic Album. The DANK SOUTHWEST Conference celebrates the history of this Hip Hop subgenre with the new Dank sound for the new generation.
